Ladder Ball

Ladder ball, also known as ladder toss or ladder golf, is a game that’s easy to learn. It consists of two targets in the form of ladders and six bolas (thick pieces of string with a ball at each end).

The object of the game is to toss a bola at the target ladder and get it to wrap around or hang on one of the rungs. The first team or player to reach exactly 21 points wins.

Bean Bag Toss

You might know it as tailgate toss, cornhole, bags, or bean bag toss, but it’s all the same fun game. 

The object of the game is to pitch the bean bags into the target holes of the cornhole boards. Similar to ladder ball, the player or team that reaches exactly 21 points first wins.

Bocce Ball

Bocce ball is another fun lawn game. The object of the game is to roll the bocce balls (the big, colorful balls) closer to the pallino ball (the small ball) than your opponents.

Bocce ball is a great lawn game, as you can play it on a variety of surfaces, such as grass, sand, and dirt.

Badminton

Another fun game for kids and adults to play is badminton. Just like tennis, you can play badminton in singles or doubles.

The object of the game is to hit the shuttlecock over the net and make it land in your opponent’s court before they can return it.

Croquet

Croquet is a bit more complicated than other lawn games, but it’s still fun. The object of the game is to race your opponents around the course of wickets (wire gates) and hit the finishing stake first.

You can play with two to six people in an area that is large enough to make two diamond shapes out of the wickets.

Horseshoes

Horseshoes is a timeless game that’s easy to play in any backyard. You just set up two stakes. And the object of the game is to toss the horseshoes at the stakes.

You can either score by wrapping the horseshoe around the stake (called a “ringer”) or by getting your horseshoe nearest to the stake. You can play to any number agreed upon, but most people play to 21 points.

Lawn Darts

Lawn darts is similar to both horseshoes and darts. The plastic darts have weighted bottoms, and plastic fins on the end. Players toss the weighted darts underhand into a plastic ring.

You score a point for each dart that makes it into the plastic ring. Opponents can cancel out points by also getting their dart in the ring. Like most lawn games, 21 points is the standard to determine the winning team.

Pickleball

Pickleball is very similar to badminton and tennis, except you play it with wooden paddles and a plastic ball. You can play as singles or doubles; it’s a game for everyone to enjoy.

Tumble Tower

Tumble tower, also known as tumbling tower or giant Jenga, is another fun and easy game.

The game requires you to stack a bunch of wooden blocks up to create a giant tower. Then, everyone playing takes turns pulling a block out of the tower. The object of the game is to try to keep the tower standing for as long as possible. The first person to knock it down loses.
