Ingredients

For the Cake:

• 1 Box of Puppy Cake Cake Mix (choose from Peanut Butter, Birthday Cake, Pumpkin, and Banana flavors)
• 1 Egg*
• 3/4 Cup of Water
• 1/4 Cup of Vegetable Oil

For the Icing:

• Puppy Cake Icing Mix (included in the Puppy Cake Cake Mix box)
• 2 Tablespoons of Water

*Note: If your dog has an egg or chicken allergy, substitute the egg with 1/4 cup of unsweetened applesauce.

Conventional Oven Baking Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350° F.

Step 2: Prepare the Batter

In a medium mixing bowl, combine the Puppy Cake Cake Mix (we used the Birthday Cake flavor) with the egg (or applesauce), vegetable oil, and water. Stir the mixture until it’s smooth and well blended.

Step 3: Pour the Batter

Evenly spread the batter into a cake pan coated with non-stick cooking spray or lined with cupcake liners. We used the Puppy Cake large bone-shaped silicone baking pan.

Step 4: Bake the Cake

Place the pan in the oven, and bake for 20 to 24 minutes. Check to see if it’s done by inserting a toothpick into the center of the cake. If it comes out clean, the cake is ready.

Step 5: Cooling

Allow the cake to cool completely before applying the icing and adding sprinkles.

Instructions for Preparing the Icing

Step 1: Mix the Icing

In a small mixing bowl, whip two tablespoons of water with the icing mix until smooth. If necessary, add a few more drops of water to achieve your desired consistency.

Step 2: Ice the Cake

Spread the icing onto the cooled cake immediately. Add sprinkles on top, if you’d like.

Microwave Baking Instructions

1. Prepare the Batter: In a medium mixing bowl, stir the cake mix with the egg (or applesauce), oil, and water until smooth.
2. Pour into Mold: Pour the batter into the Puppy Cake large bone-shaped silicone baking pan.
3. Microwave: Microwave on high for two minutes.
4. Cool: Allow the cake to cool completely before icing and adding sprinkles.

Store the cake in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to five days. For longer storage, place the cake in an airtight container in the freezer for up to two months.
