Baking a homemade dog birthday cake allows you to control the ingredients and ensure everything is safe and healthy for your pet. Plus, it’s a fun and rewarding activity that results in a delicious homemade dog treat your pup will love. This cake recipe is easy and requires just a few simple ingredients, making it perfect for any dog owner.
For your convenience, this dog cake recipe includes instructions for baking the cake in both a conventional oven and a microwave. If you’re short on time or prefer using a microwave, you can find step-by-step instructions at the bottom of this article.

*Note: If your dog has an egg or chicken allergy, substitute the egg with 1/4 cup of unsweetened applesauce.
Preheat your oven to 350° F.

In a medium mixing bowl, combine the Puppy Cake Cake Mix (we used the Birthday Cake flavor) with the egg (or applesauce), vegetable oil, and water. Stir the mixture until it’s smooth and well blended.

Evenly spread the batter into a cake pan coated with non-stick cooking spray or lined with cupcake liners. We used the Puppy Cake large bone-shaped silicone baking pan.

Place the pan in the oven, and bake for 20 to 24 minutes. Check to see if it’s done by inserting a toothpick into the center of the cake. If it comes out clean, the cake is ready.
Allow the cake to cool completely before applying the icing and adding sprinkles.

In a small mixing bowl, whip two tablespoons of water with the icing mix until smooth. If necessary, add a few more drops of water to achieve your desired consistency.

Spread the icing onto the cooled cake immediately. Add sprinkles on top, if you’d like.
Store the cake in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to five days. For longer storage, place the cake in an airtight container in the freezer for up to two months.

Making a birthday cake for your dog is a wonderful way to celebrate their special day with a tasty treat tailored just for them. By following this simple recipe, you can ensure your furry friend enjoys a safe, delicious, and festive cake at their birthday party.
Happy baking, and happy birthday to your beloved pet!
