It’s quick, easy, and you’ll love the result. Follow these simple DIY instructions from Blain’s Farm & Fleet.
1. Prep – Remove your mailbox from its post. Remove any rust or debris with sandpaper and/or a wire brush. This will help the new coat of paint adhere to the surface. Clean the surface with soap and water once it’s sanded.
2. Prime – Apply one coat of primer to the mailbox. With a metal mailbox, you’ll want to use an anti-rust primer and paint, will help keep the mailbox from rusting. Follow the manufacturer’s recommendations on preparation, application, drying times, and clean up.
3. Paint – Apply one coat of spray paint in the color of your choice. A bright pop of color can really make it stand out. Make sure all the corners, edges, and heavily pitted areas are adequately covered. Apply a second coat, if necessary, within 2 hours or after 48 hours.
4. Dry – Once it’s completely dry, reattach the mailbox to its post.
