Farnam Products

Supermask II Classic Horse Fly Mask

Fly masks are a great way to provide your horse with some insect-defense without exposing them to harsh chemicals or breaking your bank. Made with a see-through, light material, this mask allows your horse to have protection from the bugs even during the hot summer days that are to come. In fact, these fly masks also act as sunscreen, protecting the horse’s eyes and face from harmful UV rays. They can also prevent summer rubbing and baldness as the mask prevents flies from landing on and around your horse’s face.

Endure Sweat-Resistant Fly Spray

Fly Spray is another way you can protect your horse from pesky flies and bugs. This particular product is water/sweat proof so regardless of whether it rains or your horse works up a sweat in the hot weather, this product will continue to provide protection. The spray is made from a unique blend of cypermethrin and pyrethrin, which protects your horse from not only flies, but from gnats, mosquitoes, lice, and ticks. This spray also mixes in some sunscreen to protect your horse’s coat from UV rays. All that’s required of this product is to spray it on, and your horse is left with 14 days of bug protection. However, it’s important to note that the results of this spray may vary depending on how sensitive and reactive your horse is to the bugs; more sensitive horses may need more frequent spray-downs to keep them protected.

Equi-Spot Spot-On Fly Control

Equi-Spot Spot-On Fly pods are a good method of fly control if you are looking for an easy-to-apply solution. For some, fly spray isn’t an option as a lot of horses aren’t big fans of being sprayed due to the smell and the feeling of getting wet. Equi-Spot is a good solution for this problem as you simply apply the solution by running it from their forehead, down their back and legs, and across their chest. It protects your horse from a large variety of pests including horse flies, deer flies, black flies, and mosquitoes, and lasts for about 14 days. However, like fly spray, the results from this product will vary depending on your horse’s sensitivity to bugs.

SimpliFly with LarvaStop Fly Growth Regulator

If you’re looking to add a little boost to your fly-defense, consider trying Farnam’s Simplifly with LarvaStop Fly Growth Regulator, which is a food supplement that you simply add to your horse’s daily feed. This product attacks flies before they become a problem by targeting the larvae that are in your horse’s manure. The supplement causes a break in the flies’ life cycle by preventing the formation of their exoskeleton, killing the larvae. While this product is proven to reduce the fly population in manure by 97% to 100%, it is recommended to use this as only part of your fly-defense regimen due to the fact that there are many more places, other than manure, that flies can reproduce in.

We want you and your horse to enjoy a fly-free summer this year, which is why you’ll find Farnam’s line of Insect-control products conveniently at your local Blain’s Farm & Fleet, your one-stop-shop for all your horse needs.
