Then, there’s finding the right fit. Depending on your personal style, body type, and budget, you might have to try on multiple pairs of jeans until you find the right match. With these tips from Blain’s Farm & Fleet, you can find the perfect women’s jeans that actually fit.
These are the four general body types. Of course, every body is different, and you might fall somewhere in-between.
Pear – Pear-shaped carry more weight in their hips, thighs, and rear, or the lower half of their body. For this body type, mid-rise jeans work well to help elongate your legs. A slim boot cut is perfect for this. Try to avoid whiskering or details around the hips and rear.
Apple – Apple-shaped carry most of their weight in their middle section. Jeans that work well for this body type will draw attention away from your midsection and show off your hips and legs. A straight leg or boot cut will help balance out your body shape.
Hourglass – Hourglass-shaped have an even distribution of weight in the bust and hips/rear. Jeans that hug your curves without being too tight are perfect for this body type. A high rise jean can help get rid of any muffin top, and it will also help with gaping. A straight leg jean fit will help elongate your figure.
Rectangle – With a rectangle shape, tapered or skinny jeans will work well to help create some curves. Flared fitted jeans can also work for a rectangle shape. Play around with details like whiskering, stitches, distressed textures, and ripped jeans.
Opt for a Dark Wash – A darker wash or black jean is more flattering and slimming. They are also more versatile. You can wear darker jeans in casual office settings or when you’re going out for dinner. When you invest in a pair of jeans, you’ll want to be able to pair them with multiple outfits.
Don’t Focus on the Label – The size that fits you perfectly from one brand might fit different from another brand. When you go to try on jeans, take at least two sizes in the fitting room with you. Don’t focus only on the size and cut on the label. You want to wear what feels and looks right for your body.
