In the bathroom, soap, mildew, and mold all take their toll on your once clean grout. However, there are actually some simple solutions for cleaning grout and bringing that shine back to your tile. Use these tips from Blain’s Farm & Fleet.
Vinegar is a versatile cleaning tool that can be used all over the home. Fill up an empty spray bottle with half warm water and half vinegar. Spray it on the tile and grout, let it sit for about five minutes, and then scrub the grout with a stiff-bristled brush. If you want even more cleaning power, make a mixture of baking soda and water until it forms a paste. Cover the grout lines with the paste, and spray on the vinegar solution. It will start to foam. Once it’s done foaming, scrub with with the stiff brush and rinse it off with water.
Using a steam cleaner is an environmentally-friendly way to clean tiles and grout. It doesn’t clean the grout as well as scrubbing with a brush, but it’s an easier option where you don’t have to get down on the floor.
Commercial cleaners can help you tackle tougher stains. Brands like Clorox and OxiClean can do wonders on grout, in both spray and powder form. When you’re working with these products, make sure the area is well-ventilated and always follow the manufacturer’s instructions. You’ll also want to use this method sparingly as these types of cleaners can erode grout over time.
