What You’ll Need

Maple Syrup Taffy Recipe

1. Find fresh, clean snow, and pack it into the pan or baking dish. Pack it down, so there’s room for the maple syrup. Put the pan in the freezer, or leave it outside to keep it cold.

We suggest making the taffy outside, so you can enjoy the snow all around you!

2. Pour a half cup of maple syrup into the saucepan. If you want to make more taffy, increase the amount of maple syrup accordingly.

Bring the maple syrup to a boil using a medium-high heat. Keep a close eye on the syrup, as you don’t want it to burn.

3. After the syrup comes to a boil, put in the candy thermometer. Once the syrup is between 235° F and 245° F, remove it from the heat, and drizzle it over the snow in the pan. Let the boiling hot syrup cool down for one to two minutes.

4. Pour lines of the syrup over the snow. Wait a few seconds for it to cool slightly. Then, while it’s still warm, you can wrap the maple taffy around a treat stick or simply eat it with your fingers. Just remember, it’ll be sticky, so watch your teeth!

Maple syrup taffy is an easy sweet to make, and it’s fun for the kids to create their own snow treats.
