The queens are open-air mated, ensuring strong genetics and colony health. These are Italian honey bees (Apis mellifera ligustica), a subspecies known worldwide for being: Docile and gentle – one of the calmest honey bee varieties, perfect for beginner and experienced beekeepers alike. Highly productive – Italians are excellent at brood rearing, ensuring strong colony growth. Strong foragers – they gather nectar and pollen efficiently to support honey production. Reliable comb builders – they draw wax quickly and consistently. Less likely to swarm – making them easier to manage throughout the season.
