Developed by Roland Morrill about 1895, Hearts of Gold Cantaloupe was granted a trademark on December 14, 1914 and became the most popular variety grown for the Midwest market in the 1930s. Almost round, this variety produces good yields of 3 pound melons, with sweet, deep orange flesh and a small seed cavity.
