We usually don’t think about our batteries at all until they stop working. Don’t get stranded on the side of the road. Replace your battery every four to five years, and have it checked at least twice a year. In the United States, the average life span of an automotive battery is 4 1/2 years. Extreme heat and cold weather conditions can have a dramatic effect on your battery. If you find yourself with a dead battery, it may be time to replace it.
When it comes time replace your battery, make sure it is the correct size. Also, make sure it has enough power for your vehicle. Your vehicle requires a specific group size battery that will fit in your battery tray. All vehicles require a certain amount of cold cranking amps (CCA) to run properly. If your vehicle is a model that requires a higher CCA battery, don’t try to save a few bucks by selecting an inexpensive model. It may not have enough power to turn your engine over in cold weather.
