Voluntary Recall of Purina 10-oz. Tubs of Wet Dog Food

Dear Valued Retail Customer:

We are writing to make you aware of our announcement today of a voluntary recall of limited date codes of wet dog food sold in 10-oz. plastic tubs under the following brands:

- Beneful Prepared Meals Wet Dog Food in 10-oz. Tubs
- Beneful Chopped Blends Wet Dog Food in 10-oz. Tubs
- Pro Plan Savory Meals Wet Dog Food in 10-oz. Tubs (limited to five varieties)

Purina is taking this precautionary action after our internal quality checks determined that due to intermittent batching errors, limited lots of 10-oz. tubs manufactured between Dec. 29, 2015 and Feb. 23, 2016, contained insufficient levels of certain added vitamins and minerals. These items were produced only in Purina’s St. Joseph, Missouri, facility and were sold in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico. The recalled product was shipped and distributed between January 7, 2016 and March 3, 2016.

We are not aware of any dogs becoming ill from these products. We are taking this action as a precaution for dogs who may exclusively consume this wet dog food for more than several weeks. No other Purina products or sizes are impacted. We have implemented corrective actions, including additional vitamin and mineral verification steps in our wet dog food 10-oz. tub production process, and we have advised the U.S. FDA of this voluntary recall.

Nestle´ Purina associates are communicating Voluntary Product Recall details separately to your Account Buyers. We will update you on anticipated timing for resuming shipments of the impacted items as quickly as possible. This recall is being carried out to the retail level. Please ensure all of your retail locations and distribution centers follow the direction provided in the “Customer Instructions” letter to be separately sent by our Order Revenue Management team.
