Blain’s Farm & Fleet and Riverfront Inc. are increasing opportunities for individuals of all abilities to engage in their community.
La Crosse, WI, February 17, 2017 – Blain’s Farm and Fleet and Riverfront Inc., a disability resource and service
provider, in Janesville, WI have teamed up to pilot a sensory friendly shopping experience for people with
disabilities at the Janesville Blain’s Farm and Fleet store on Sunday, March 5, 2017 from 9am-11am.
The sensory friendly shopping hours at Blain’s Farm and Fleet aim to benefit people with autism, social anxiety
and other disabilities by providing a quieter and more relaxed experience than the usual store hours. As part of the
event the store will offer a quiet room, dial down distractions, in-store music and volume from displays will be
lowered or turned off. Riverfront will also be providing training to store staff on different disabilities and how to
approach, help and understand.
“Blain’s Farm and Fleet is excited to offer this opportunity to the Janesville community. Providing people of all
abilities access to our stores is a priority for our company.” said Dormie Roberts, PR/Events Coordinator for Blain’s
Farm and Fleet.
For families of those on the autism spectrum, experiencing social anxiety or faced with other disabilities, shopping
can be challenging due to light, sound and crowds. Blain’s Farm and Fleet and Riverfront Inc. are excited about
this opportunity as sensory friendly retail experiences are increasing in communities across the nation.
“Riverfront is committed to building inclusive communities that value the contributions of people of all abilities.
Through partnerships with businesses like Farm and Fleet we are able to promote full citizenship for individuals
with disabilities in a supportive, accepting environment,” said Hasmig Tempesta, Southern Regional Service
Director for Riverfront.
This event is open to the community but designed for people with disabilities and their families. For more
