Janesville, Wis. March 15th, 2016 – Blain’s Farm & Fleet has generously made a donation to help homeless teens start their spring off on the right foot with brand new shoes.
Blain’s Farm & Fleet is committed to the 460+ homeless students in the Janesville School District. In collaboration with the School District Homeless Liaison, Carrie Kulinksi, the school district will be receiving just shy of 100 pairs of shoes from Blain’s Farm and Fleet and their vendors- including over 50 pairs from Sketchers and Western Chief rubber boots from Washington Shoe Company.
“No child should go to school cold and hungry or not knowing where they will sleep at night,” states Kristin Mickelson, PR and Events Manager for Blain’s Farm and Fleet. “These kids are our future lawyers, doctors, and teachers, and they deserve to be given the tools they need to succeed and that includes new, clean clothes and shoes. Blain’s and our amazing vendors are happy we can help make their days a little easier and comfortable.”
Last fall, Blain’s Farm and Fleet also provided clothes to supply the Janesville School District closets at each school before Christmas. The donation also allowed Kulinski to share the surplus items with other shelters in Rock County. This was in addition to the 60 winter coats donated to the Salvation Army for the Coats for Kids Program.
If you would like to help homeless students in the Janesville area, the school district is accepting packaged socks and underwear of all sizes along with warm, waterproof gloves, winter boots, snow pants, back packs, blankets, toiletries, school supplies, bus tokens, fuel cards, and gift cards for food and groceries. Monetary donations can also be made to the Homeless Student Fund to allow items such as (LIST to be provided) to be purchased throughout the year. These donations can be dropped off at the Education Services Center to the attention of Carrie Kulinski.
