I just ordered this item so I haven't tried it yet but I researched it a bit and it has the stronger 10 amp motor compared with 6 amp of well known brand, both 3 gallon, yet this was the quieter decibels of 75 db motor. First priority was for both cold AND WARM ash which this does. One other thing, it has wheels connected to its base! Sounds good to me. :) The reviews were good other than a short hose. I see there is now a 10' hose as an extra item for additional cost. And this is 1/3 the cost
Are the attachments heat resistant and can be used with warm ash?

Best Answer:The body of the vac, tube, and main wand are all metal. Internally, the filter is a thick material which resists heat/ash. This is intended to be used with warm ashes direct from a stove. I've been using it for a year on a pellet stove which was recently firing with no issues.
we just purchased a pellet stove, it is our understanding along with the attachments you show on your product we also will need a long (straw like) hose to clean the firing mechanisms when we do our yearly cleaning. If so, do these come with the attachments? at this time of year are you having any type of "free" shipping or promotions going on? thank you I would certainly appreciate it. look forward to your response.
Best Answer:Thank you for your interest in our products. I do not see that attachment in the kit.

Best Answer:The filter is removable. I can't speak to the availability of a replacement filter, though. The filter itself is made of a thick material that is more like a vinyl rather than paper, so--again--I'm assuming it's hand washable.
That said, I've been using the vacuum for a year on a pellet and wood stove. It has been reliable and effective. No dust escapes, and cleanup has been easy. Suction feels slightly weaker than expected, but I attribute that to the heavy filtration required.
I don't know about replaceable that would be something for the manufacturer. However, I'm sure you could rinse the filter if you must, but a good brushing outdoors will remove any residual ash. Overall this is a great vacuum and for the price it can't be beat. Very powerful and holds a fair amount of ash.
yes, the filter is both washable and replaceable. I bought a spare filter when I bought my unit, but I haven't needed to use it yet. the filter is vulnerable to hot sparks, so make sure all the coals are dead.
Best Answer:I have only used mine for ash. However both ash and Gypsum the material used in drywall are about the same in terms of abrasive properties. Gypsum being so fine might require a tad bit more cleaning of the vacuum. Great vacuum, certainly worth a try.
Best Answer:If I were you, I would return it for another. All I can say is, we have the same model & that has never happened to us. Maybe yours is defective. We really like our vac & haven't had any issues. We have owned ours for a year (2 wood stove seasons).
How long is the hose that comes with the vacuum when you purchase it?
A shopper on Jan 6, 2014
Best Answer:I bought it in September 2013, the hose in about 49 inches front end to where it hooks into the green can base. There are also attachments that will extend length of hose depending on which attachment
The hose on the vacuum is 41" and the rigid pipe pieces are a total of 35". We don't use the attachments when we're vacuuming our pellet stove, we just use the hose and the silver rigid pipe and one black pipe.
I have had this vacuum for about 3 years and loved. it. All of a sudden the other day when I went to clean out my pellet stove instead of the ashes blowing into the vacuum they came out of the air blow out nozzle and had ashes all over my living room. It was a mess to clean up. Does anyone know why this happened?

Best Answer:The filter wasn't seated properly or your filter has a hole in it. Either will cause ash to enter the vacuum motor housing and exit through the exhaust port. I had a torn filter and had to take the motor housing apart and clean as best I could. It's not too difficult to do, but requires a little patience and attention to detail. I recommend getting a new filter and cleaning the housing as best you can. Mine works like a charm after the new filter and cleaning.
Best Answer:I've had mine for a couple of years and still have not replaced the filter. It's pretty easy to knock the ashes off of the filter when you empty it although be sure to do that outside and upwind of the filter. The vacuum comes with all the attachments you need.
My hose connector snapped in half. Does anyone know where I can get another one? They screw on and off, so someone must have replacements.

Best Answer:I just called powersmith directly at there 800 number. First they were out of stock on the 3ft hoses. They sent me a longer length. Didn't work, no suction. Called again, they eventually sent the 3 ft hose NC, under warranty.
Best Answer:Thank you for your interest in our products. This is currently out of stock, and we are not showing an updated date for them to come back into stock. i apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. Thank you!
