More About John Deere Tow-Behind Seed & Fertilizer Spreaders at Blain's Farm & Fleet
A pull-behind spreader is one of those lawn tools that pays off all season. Hook it to a lawn tractor, riding mower, or ATV and let it do the messy work, spreading fertilizer or seed evenly as you drive. Whether you’re looking for a tow-behind spreader for a bigger yard or need something easier than hand spreading, we simplify home lawn care and growth.
What You Can Do with a Tow-Behind Seeder or Spreader
Most people use these in a few straightforward ways. In spring and fall, a tow-behind seeder helps you overseed thin spots or apply grass seed more evenly than tossing it by hand. During the growing season, a pull-type spreader for lawn fertilizer makes it easier to feed the grass without leaving stripes. And when winter hits, some homeowners use the same setup for traction materials like ice melt or sand, as long as the product supports that use.
Tow-Behind vs. Hitch Mount: Choosing the Right Setup
If you’re towing with a riding mower or lawn tractor, a seed spreader for lawn mowers is typically a tow-behind model that rolls on its own wheels. It’s a solid choice when you want stability and more capacity for larger areas. If you’re using an ATV or UTV with a receiver hitch, a hitch mount spreader keeps things compact and easier to maneuver, especially in tighter spaces.
Picking Capacity Without Overthinking it
Capacity mostly comes down to refill time. If you’re shopping for a tow-behind fertilizer spreader, a larger model means fewer stops, which matters more on bigger lots. For smaller yards, a lighter pull-behind can still get the job done without taking up a ton of storage space.
Pick the setup that matches what you’re towing with, choose drop if you want more control or broadcast if you want faster coverage, and you’ll spend less time refilling and redoing spots. It’s the kind of tool you’ll end up using more than you expect, because it makes the quick-yard-job actually quick.
