O'Keeffe's Hand Lotions and Creams

Your hands put in a lot of work every day. Whether you're working outdoors, tackling projects in the garage, gardening, caring for animals, washing up, or simply dealing with dry seasonal air, it's not unusual for hands to become rough, dry, or uncomfortable over time.

Hand lotions and creams are specifically designed to help moisturize and protect hands that work hard every day. Some formulas are lightweight enough for regular use throughout the day, while others provide richer moisture for hands that need extra care.

Whether you're looking for a hardworking hand cream, an everyday moisturizer, or something a little more indulgent, Blain's Farm & Fleet carries options from trusted brands including O'Keeffe's, Duke Cannon, Burt's Bees, and more.

FAQs About Hand Lotions & Creams

1. Why use a hand lotion instead of a body lotion?

Both products are designed to moisturize the skin, but they're often formulated with different uses in mind. Hands typically experience more frequent washing, exposure to the elements, and daily wear and tear than most other areas of the body.

Many people choose hand lotions and creams because they're designed specifically for these challenges and can be convenient to keep nearby for use throughout the day.

2. What's the difference between a hand lotion and a hand cream?

In general, hand lotions tend to feel lighter and absorb more quickly, while hand creams are often thicker and provide richer moisture. Some people prefer lotions for frequent daytime use and creams when their hands need extra care.

The right choice depends on your preferences and how your hands typically feel throughout the day.

3. How do I know what my hands need?

Start by paying attention to how your hands typically feel throughout the day. If your hands often feel dry, rough, tight, or uncomfortable, you may benefit from a richer cream designed to provide longer-lasting moisture. If your hands generally feel comfortable and you're simply looking for everyday hydration, a lighter lotion may be all you need.

You can also think about how and when you'll use it. Some people prefer lightweight formulas that absorb quickly and can be applied throughout the day, while others prefer richer products that provide longer-lasting moisture.

You don't need to be a skin-care expert to choose a product that works for you. Think about how your hands feel now and what you'd like to improve. The best hand lotion or cream is often the one that fits naturally into your routine and helps keep your hands feeling comfortable, day after day.

4. How often should I use hand lotion?

There's no single schedule that works for everyone. Some people apply hand lotion several times throughout the day, while others use it only occasionally when their hands need extra attention.

If you're wondering whether you're using too much, the answer often comes down to how your hands feel. The goal is comfortable, moisturized skin, not applying lotion on a strict schedule. If your hands are absorbing the product and feel better afterward, regular use is generally part of a normal hand-care routine. If they already feel comfortable and moisturized, applying more may not provide any additional benefit.

The best approach is to use hand lotion as needed and pay attention to how your skin responds. Many people find that a small amount used consistently throughout the day works better than applying a large amount all at once.

5. I don't have dry hands. Do I need hand lotion?

Not necessarily. If your hands feel comfortable year-round and you're happy with how they look and feel, you may not feel a need to use hand lotion regularly.

However, many people use hand lotions and creams as part of a routine to help maintain skin comfort before dryness becomes a problem. Rather than waiting for their hands to become rough or uncomfortable, they use moisturizer to help keep their skin feeling its best.

Think of hand lotion the same way you think about many other forms of routine care. Some people use it to address dry skin, while others use it simply to help maintain comfortable, healthy-looking hands. The right choice comes down to your skin, your routine, and your personal preferences.
