Don’t let the family fun stop just because it’s winter. There are many fun and creative activities that will keep your kids busy for hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keep playing year-round with these indoor winter activity ideas from Blain’s Farm & Fleet. Family time has never been more fun\u2014and you don’t even have to leave the house!<\/p>\n\n\n

1. Go indoor ice skating<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n

That’s right, you can ice skate inside. Just grab the wax paper<\/a> from the kitchen and some rubber bands<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let everyone in the family measure their feet on the wax paper, and cut squares large enough to reach up to your ankles. Secure the wax paper on each foot with the rubber band. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, hit the carpet and glide! Who knew you could be so warm while ice skating?<\/p>\n\n\n

2. Have an indoor snowball fight<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n

Did you know you can have a snowball fight indoors? All you need are some cotton balls<\/a>. If you have big ones, that’s great! Kids can even draw faces on their snowballs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you feel more creative, fill some white nylons with poly-fill stuffing. Fill them as big and fluffy as you want. Tie three knots in the stocking to secure the stuffing in a ball at the end, and repeat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This way, you can snake the filling up the nylon, and cut them apart for multiple snowballs in one.<\/p>\n\n\n

3. Create your own art gallery<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n

Pull out the watercolors, paint brushes<\/a>, and construction\/craft paper for this one. Have every member of the family create their own masterpiece. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Use straws or other handy accessories you have around your home to create a unique piece. When the works are finished, give them a title. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hang your completed pieces on the wall with the given names of the paintings below. Sit back and admire each other’s work. <\/p>\n\n\n

4. Create a wall mural<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n

Designate an area in your home to create a wall mural. Hang some white parchment paper<\/a> up to cover the walls. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Voila! You have an instant canvas for your kids to go nuts on! They will love the idea of drawing on the walls without getting in trouble. Just make sure they know it’s a special occasion!<\/p>\n\n\n

5. Cook with the kids<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n

Have you tried cooking with your kids? Many times, you are too busy to have little hands in the way. But when there is nothing better to do on those cold Saturday afternoons, why not let them in on the fun? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Start with something simple, like letting them stir batter for brownies, and then letting them frost them. They will love being able to help make something so delicious!<\/p>\n\n\n

Turn your hallway into a runway. Set up chairs at the end for the “models” to strike poses.<\/p>\n\n\n

7. Create an indoor obstacle course<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n

If your kids are really bouncing off the walls, create an indoor obstacle course. It will challenge them and wear them out at the same time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Set up chairs for them to cut back and forth through. Create tunnels with blankets<\/a> and chairs for them to crawl through. And set up laundry baskets<\/a> or cardboard boxes for them to jump over.<\/p>\n\n\n

8. Make snow globes<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n

Did you know you can easily create your own snow globe? The main thing you need is a mason jar<\/a> with a lid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Use super glue to attach any plastic figurines or other small objects to the inside of the lid. Get creative! Then, fill the jar up with water and glitter, glue the lid on with hot glue, and you’re done!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not only is this activity a lot of fun, but it also leaves you with a new Christmas decoration for your home!<\/p>\n\n\n

9. Create a sensory bin<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n

Sensory activities are great for younger kids, and they’re easy to make! Just grab a bowl or container of some sort, and fill it with different-textured items you find around the house. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can use rice, shaving cream, coffee beans, snow (or fake snow), and more!<\/p>\n\n\n

10. Take a trip to the library or museum<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n

Finally, if you need to get out of the house, try visiting places you normally wouldn’t go to during warm, summer months. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spending some time at the local library or museum are great indoor activities for kids. A bowling alley is another great place for kids to release some energy and maybe even pick up a new hobby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
