Whether you\u2019re just cutting some firewood in your back yard or cutting down a tree, it\u2019s always important to use safe work habits. Learn what you can do to help protect yourself and others by using proper chainsaw safety techniques.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"presawing-chainsaw-safety-measures\"><strong>Pre-sawing Chainsaw Safety Measures<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n<p>Read the owner\u2019s manual for your <a href=\"\/chainsaws-pole-saws-wood-equipment\/\">chainsaw<\/a>. For any piece of equipment with an engine, this is the starting point. From cars to chainsaws, read your manual. You\u2019ll not only know more about how your saw&nbsp;works, but you just might learn a few tips and tricks you didn\u2019t know before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Be sure to clean, sharpen, and lubricate your chain before you use your chainsaw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Always wear protective clothing while sawing. Invest in a quality pair of <a href=\"\/chainsaw-safety-equipment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">safety chaps<\/a> to protect your legs and a hard hat or helmet. Wear a full face mask to protect yourself from flying debris. <a href=\"\/hearing-protection-equipment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ear protection<\/a> will prevent any hearing damage from the high volume of your chainsaw\u2019s engine. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.farmandfleet.com\/s\/?keyword=steel+toe+boots\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Steel toe work boots<\/a> keep your feet from getting crushed or trampled while on the work site. They also protect your toe in case you accidentally nick it with the saw. Make yourself visible to other people in the area by wearing <a href=\"\/mens-high-visibility-clothing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">high visibility clothing<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"chainsaw-safety-techniques-while-sawing\"><strong>Chainsaw Safety Techniques While Sawing<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n<p>Keep your work area free of debris while you&#8217;re cutting down tree trunks and limbs. Be aware of any hanging overhead tree limbs and power lines. Only use your chainsaw on wood. Anything harder than wood, such as masonry, metal, or even dirt will not only damage your chain, but it could cause it to snap and injure you or others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Make sure that you are not alone when you are sawing wood in case of an emergency. Always bring a buddy. This is a good chainsaw safety precaution, and it will make the work go faster. Keep a <a href=\"\/first-aid-kits\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">first aid kit<\/a> and a cell phone nearby at all times.
