Turn off the TV, unplug the video games, take away the laptop, the cell phone and the tablet for a couple of hours and get\u00a0your\u00a0kids outside. The sun is shining and it is a beautiful day. Your kids need to act like kids for a couple of hours and just play! If you\u2019ve got some sidewalk chalk and an open driveway or sidewalk,\u00a0there\u00a0are\u00a0plenty of games\u00a0you and your child will love.<\/p>\n

Sidewalk Chalk<\/a> Games<\/h2>\n

1. Classic Sidewalk Chalk Games<\/strong><\/p>\n

Teach your child all of your favorite playground games that you played when you were a kid. Draw out fun games such as tic-tac-toe, hopscotch, and foursquare with washable sidewalk chalk<\/a>. You can even have a playful little competition with your little one.<\/p>\n

2. Sidewalk Chalk Drawing Games<\/strong><\/p>\n

With a piece of chalk, have your child lay down flat on their back while you trace around their bodies. Then have your child add details to create a picture that illustrates what they want to be when they grow up, such as a basketball player, doctor, police officer, or fire fighter.<\/p>\n

You can also play a drawing guessing game where your child picks a noun (a person, place, or thing) and you try to guess what your child is drawing. Give yourself a time limit with a stopwatch.<\/p>\n

3. Sidewalk Chalk Word Games<\/strong><\/p>\n

Play hangman by picking out a word your child\u00a0should be able to spell. For every missed letter, draw a part of the stick figure body until it is complete or your child guesses the correct word. You can also let your child pick out a word for you to guess.<\/p>\n

Help your child with his grammar and spelling, write down a couple of words that rhyme, such as \u201cDig\u201d and \u201cPig\u201d or \u201cBat\u201d and \u201cMat,\u201d and have your child point out which word rhymes with which.<\/p>\n

4. Sidewalk Chalk Math<\/strong><\/p>\n

You can also\u00a0work on simple math problems together, which\u00a0can be so much fun that your child may forget that they are\u00a0learning at the same time. You can help your child move on from easy addition of 1 + 1 = 2 to more advanced multiplication and division as the game advances.<\/p>\n

5. Sidewalk Chalk Basketball<\/strong><\/p>\n

You can use chalk to keep track of your score when playing basketball or shooting hoop games like \u201cH-O-R-S-E\u201d or \u201cP-I-G\u201d with a basketball<\/a> and basketball hoop<\/a>.<\/p>\n
