One of the first, and most important, things to do is pitch your <a href=\"\/camping-tents\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tent<\/a>. Pitching a tent can be frustrating if you don&#8217;t know what you&#8217;re doing. With a little help from Blain&#8217;s Farm &amp; Fleet, you&#8217;ll have a perfectly pitched tent in no time.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"1-tent-setup\">1. Tent Setup<\/h3>\n\n\n<p>Select a level area on your campsite \u2013 clear of rocks, branches and other hard or sharp objects. Do not pitch your tent under trees. Trees might provide more shade, but they also can fall on your tent. Enlist the help of at least one other person to assist you. Lay out a <a href=\"\/tarps\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tent tarp<\/a> to put a layer between the tent floor and ground. This will help keep away water and dirt from the bottom of your tent.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"2-pitching-a-tent\">2. Pitching a Tent<\/h3>\n\n\n<p>Lay out and position the tent with the door facing the desired direction. Assemble the main, shock-corded tent poles by inserting one end of each pole onto the pins in the corners of the tent. Go to the opposite end of each pole and gradually apply pressure to the pole forming an arch. Insert the pole onto the appropriate pin. Stretch the corners of the tent until they&#8217;re taut. <a href=\"\/hammers-mallets-and-mauls\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hammer<\/a> the <a href=\"\/tent-pegs\/\">tent stakes<\/a> into the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"3-attaching-the-rainfly\">3. Attaching the Rainfly<\/h3>\n\n\n<p>A rainfly helps protect your tent from rain. Some just go over the top of the tent while others fully cover the tent. Most tents come with a rainfly. Assemble the remaining shock-corded pole. Drape the fly over the tent, making sure it is properly positioned. Attach the pole to the fly using the fabric fastener attachments and any webbing pockets. Hook the clips on the elastic loops at the corners of the fly onto the corresponding rings at each&nbsp;corner of the tent. Secure the rainfly with the fabric fastener hooks and loop ties located on the underside of the fly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You now have a perfectly pitched <a href=\"\/blog\/tent-buying-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tent for your family<\/a>.
