Low water pressure is one of the most common of those common problems. This is especially true in older homes. Today, we&#8217;ll show you how to fix low water pressure in your faucet.<\/p>\n<h2>How To Fix Low Water Pressure In A\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.farmandfleet.com\/s\/?keyword=faucet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Faucet<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>The most common cause of low water pressure in a sink is a clogged aerator. The aerator is the small bowl with a screen in it on the end of your faucet. It&#8217;s where the water comes out. Over time, particles in our water build up in our faucet aerators and clog them. Luckily, this is a super easy fix.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Cover the <a href=\"\/faucet-aerators\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">aerator<\/a> with a <a href=\"\/dish-towels\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">kitchen towel<\/a>\u00a0and twist it off with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.farmandfleet.com\/s\/?keyword=pliers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pliers<\/a> or a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.farmandfleet.com\/s\/?keyword=pipe+wrench\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pipe wrench<\/a>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The towel will keep you from scratching the finish on your faucet. Remove the aerator carefully. There are small screens and parts inside that you don&#8217;t want to lose. Be sure to put a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.farmandfleet.com\/s\/?keyword=sink%20strainer&amp;categorynew=1%7CHome%20Improvement&amp;mpp=128\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sink strainer<\/a> in your drain to keep the small parts from slipping down into your pipes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Dismantle the faucet aerator.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Depending on what kind of faucet aerator you have, this may require a screw driver. Most aerators pop apart with a little pressure. Make sure you get it all the way apart. The small plastic cartridge filter in most aerators is made of multiple pieces that snap apart. Also, take note of how everything fits together so you can put it back the way it was. There should be a plastic cartridge and a few layers of mesh screen, along with a rubber o-ring when you&#8217;re done.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Clean all the parts of the aerator.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s a pretty wide variety of gunk that can build up in an aerator. Most of it will wash out with water, but sometimes you have to soak the parts of the aerator in a cleaning solution. <a href=\"\/drain-cleaners\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Drain cleaners<\/a> are powerful enough to do the job, but <a href=\"\/s\/?keyword=all+purpose+cleaners\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">all-purpose cleaners<\/a> work well, too. You also might have to poke some of the debris out of the parts with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.farmandfleet.com\/s\/?keyword=punch&amp;categorynew=1%7CHome%20Improvement&amp;mpp=128\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">punch<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.farmandfleet.com\/s\/?keyword=scribe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">scribe<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Reassemble your aerator and reinstall it.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t forget to test the water once you reinstall it.
