The excessive side dishes and overpriced meals can sometimes be overwhelming on both your stomach and your budget. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Spice things up for a change, and try frying your own fish at home. Treat your family to a gourmet dinner without the hassle of having to reserve a table or empty your wallet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Follow these simple instructions from Blain&#8217;s Farm &amp; Fleet, and you&#8217;ll be enjoying a delicious, homemade fish fry in no time!<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"fish-fry-ingredients\"><strong>Fish Fry Ingredients<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>2 pounds of white fish filets<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 package of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.farmandfleet.com\/breadings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fish fry batter mix<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.farmandfleet.com\/cooking-oils\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Frying oil<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"fish-fry-recipe\"><strong>Fish Fry Recipe<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n<p><strong>1.<\/strong> If the fish is frozen, let it thaw out. When it&#8217;s done thawing, pat it dry to avoid oil splatter. The most commonly-used fish for homemade fish fries are tilapia, Alaskan cod, and halibut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2.<\/strong> Follow the simple instructions on the batter mix package to prepare the batter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pour some fish fry batter mix into a <a href=\"\/mixing-bowls\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mixing bowl<\/a>. For an easy way to coat your fish in the batter, use a batter bowl. Batter bowls come with lids that snap on. You can shake the bowl to fully coat your fish in the fish fry batter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3.<\/strong>&nbsp;Using a <a href=\"\/knives\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">knife<\/a>, cut up the fish into your desired size. Remember, your fish needs to fit in the deep fryer basket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4.<\/strong> Place the fish in the batter bowl with the fry mix, and fasten the lid to ensure that you don\u2019t make a mess.&nbsp;Shake the bowl until all the pieces of fish are completely covered with the batter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;re not using a batter bowl, use your hands to fully coat the fish in the batter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>5.<\/strong> Fill your indoor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.farmandfleet.com\/deep-fryers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">deep fryer<\/a> or outdoor <a href=\"\/fish-turkey-fryers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fish fryer<\/a> with the appropriate amount of frying oil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the oil has reached 375\u00b0 F, place the battered fish into the deep fryer. Make sure not to overcrowd the frying basket. This can result in under-cooked fish or make the oil overflow. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For your safety, do not touch the deep fryer or the hot oil, and never leave it unattended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>6.<\/strong> Deep fry the fish until the batter is crispy and golden brown. Use a pair of metal tongs to remove the fish. Place the fried fish on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.farmandfleet.com\/cookie-sheets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">baking sheet<\/a> lined with <a href=\"\/paper-towels\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">paper towels<\/a> to soak up the extra oil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>7.<\/strong> Wait for your fish to cool down. If you&#8217;d like, squeeze lemon juice over top of it. Then, serve the fish with a side of lemon wedges, tartar sauce, and your choice of potato (French fries, potato pancakes, etc.) for a true fish fry.
