Fungus can be harmful to crops, causing lower yields and poor quality. One way you can prevent the growth of fungus in your lawn and garden is to use <a href=\"\/fungicides\/\">fungicides<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"types-of-fungicide\">Types of Fungicide<\/h3>\n\n\n<p>Fungicides are similar to pesticides. You can use them to protect your plants and vegetables from being destroyed by disease. They can also be used once a plant is infected. They can be applied in two ways: topical and penetrants.<\/p>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"topical-fungicide\">Topical Fungicide<\/h4>\n\n\n<p>When you\u2019re looking for a preventative solution, use a topical fungicide\u2014also known as a contact fungicide\u2014to protect your plants. The fungicide acts as a protective cover, preventing fungi from infecting your plants. You&#8217;ll have to apply topical fungicide often in order for it to truly protect your plants from infection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the plant grows, the topical fungicide does not spread onto the new part of the plant. Thus, you will need to apply the fungicide about every seven to 10 days for it to be effective. This same method can be applied to grass. When you mow the lawn, you&#8217;re actually removing the fungicide. Reapply frequently to protect your lawn.<\/p>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"penetrant-fungicide\">Penetrant Fungicide<\/h4>\n\n\n<p>Use penetrant fungicide when your lawn or garden already has a fungal infection. The chemicals seep into the plant, attempting to kill or stop the disease from spreading. While penetrant fungicides work to kill the diseased area, it\u2019s best to take preventative steps to protect your garden and lawn.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-to-apply-fungicide\">How to Apply Fungicide<\/h3>\n\n\n<p>Fungicides need to be evenly distributed in order to be effective. Fungal spores are very small. You need to evenly apply the chemicals while making sure it\u2019s thoroughly covering the plants to prevent the spores from reaching the inside. Fungicides can be distributed in a few ways. Most fungicides come as a liquid spray. Depending on the size of the area you&#8217;re treating, you can use a <a href=\"\/spray-bottles\/\">handheld spray bottle<\/a>, <a href=\"\/s\/?keyword=backpack+sprayer\">back pack sprayer,<\/a> or even a <a href=\"\/pull-behind-lawn-sprayers\/\">tow sprayer<\/a>. They are also available in dust powders and powders that are mixed with water. No matter which kind you use, we recommend wearing <a title=\"Nitrile Gloves\" href=\"https:\/\/www.farmandfleet.com\/s\/?keyword=nitrile%20gloves&amp;categorynew=1%7CClothing%20%26%20Footwear,1%7CHome%20Basics,1%7CLawn%20and%20Garden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">nitrile<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.farmandfleet.com\/s\/?keyword=gardening+gloves\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">gardening gloves<\/a> to protect your hands.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"epa-standards-for-fungicides\">EPA Standards for Fungicides<\/h3>\n\n\n<p>The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) holds fungicides and pesticides to the same standards. When you use fungicides, be careful to follow the directions on the label. Use the designated amount to ensure you stay with EPA guidelines. Of course, always wash your vegetables before you eat them.
