Some excel in winter, some rain, and some off-road.

Each type of tire has its own advantages. Blain’s Farm & Fleet and BFGoodrich are here to help you understand them.

All-Season Tires

This is the most popular tire on the road. It’s built to handle everyday driving conditions.

Its tread provides balanced dry and wet performance levels, as well as acceptable snow traction in regions with light winter weather.

All-season tires are a practical solution designed for year-round usage, with typically a longer tread life.

Winter/Snow Tires

These tires are specifically designed to offer optimal levels of traction on slush, snow, and ice. They’re great for wet and dry road surfaces in severe winter driving conditions.

A severe cold weather condition is considered to occur when ambient temperatures are consistently below freezing and/or there is substantial winter precipitation.

Winter tires are not intended for year-round usage. All winter tires exhibit the Mountain Snowflake marking, indicating suitability for winter application.

Summer Tires

These tires are primarily designed for high-performance vehicles and provide optimized dry and wet performance levels in a temperate environment.

Summer tires are designed for year-round usage. But they should not be used during the winter season where temperatures are colder and approach freezing consistently. In these conditions, their performance will be less than optimal.

All-Terrain Tires

These are off-road tires designed to give you superior grip in mud, dirt, and rock.

You can use them on the road. But keep in mind that they have a louder ride noise than most other tires. They also have less tread wear because of their unique tread design.

This blog article was originally posted by BFGoodrich.

For more guides like this one, check out our Tires Blog.

Learn about four kinds of tires created with unique tread for specific weather conditions or year-round conditions.

[2
1467
1373
post-15589","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-automotive","tag-tires","content_type-article

The Basics of Seasonal Tires | Blain's Farm &
