It is important to get a good night&#8217;s sleep but it&#8217;s also important to make sure that the mattress we&#8217;re sleeping on is clean. Not only will it help your mattress last longer, it can also promote a better night&#8217;s sleep. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead of flipping your mattress twice a year, clean it twice a year. This will help you stay on top of any stains and odors that can accumulate through normal use or pet accidents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another way to remember is when the seasons change. Here are some steps you can follow on how to clean a mattress.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-to-clean-a-mattress\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">How to Clean a Mattress<\/span><\/h2>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"1-vacuum-your-mattress\">1. Vacuum Your Mattress<\/h3>\n\n\n<p>Remove your bed linens, mattress pad and covers. Use your <a href=\"\/vacuum-cleaners\/\">vacuum cleaner<\/a>&#8216;s crevice tool or upholstery attachment and clean out all of the dead skin, dust mites and more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don&#8217;t forget to vacuum both sides of your mattress. <\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"2-wash-your-bedding\">2. Wash Your Bedding<\/h3>\n\n\n<p>While you&#8217;re cleaning your mattress, throw all your bedding in the wash. Washing your bedding is important, and since you&#8217;re already removing it to clean the mattress, you might as well get it cleaned up too! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have any lingering odors from pets or use, spray your bedding thoroughly with <a href=\"\/fabric-sprays\/\">fabric spray<\/a> before you throw it in the washing machine. This is one of those mattress cleaning tips that will change your life. You&#8217;ll be amazed at how many odors you can defeat by doing this. <\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"3-spot-clean-your-mattress\">3. Spot Clean Your Mattress<\/h3>\n\n\n<p>Mattress stains happen and they can go deeper than just your bed linens, sometimes soaking into your mattress. Spot clean any stains with a mild cleaner. <a href=\"\/s\/?keyword=pet+stain+remover\">Pet stain remover<\/a> and <a href=\"\/carpet-and-upholstery-cleaner\/\">upholstery cleaner<\/a> can remove stains quickly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you don&#8217;t have these cleaners on hand, one of our favorite mattress cleaning hacks is to use <a href=\"\/dishwashing-detergents\/\">dish soap<\/a> to treat stains. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Make sure to gently blot these cleaners on the surface of the mattress. Rubbing the stain can actually make it go deeper into the mattress. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can make your own mild cleaning solution with cold water, baking soda, and a little all purpose cleaner. By diluting your cleaner with water, you can use a spray bottle to apply it and reduce the risk of grinding the stain deeper into the mattress.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"4-deodorize-your-mattress\">4. Deodorize Your Mattress<\/h3>\n\n\n<p>Dust a light layer of <a href=\"\/baking-soda\/\">baking soda<\/a>, letting it set for a few hours. The baking soda will absorb any extra liquid and will give your mattress a fresh, clean scent. Then clean up the baking soda with your vacuum&#8217;s crevice tool. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Spraying a generous layer of fabric spray and letting it air dry will leave your mattress feeling fresh and renewed!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once your mattress is clean, you&#8217;ll have a peaceful oasis that&#8217;s nice and refreshed.
