One way to get rid of years of stains is to pressure wash your driveway. With a <a href=\"\/pressure-washer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pressure washer<\/a> and the right safety gear, you can easily clean off the concrete to bring back that smooth, new look, and Blain&#8217;s Farm &amp; Fleet is here to walk you through it.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">How to Pressure Wash Your Driveway<\/span><\/h3>\n<h4>Step 1: Prepare driveway and surrounding area<\/h4>\n<p>Clean up any dirt and debris on the concrete with a large <a href=\"\/push-brooms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">push broom<\/a>. If your driveway is close to any walls, doors, or anything that could be damaged by missed debris, cover them up with <a href=\"\/tarps\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tarps<\/a> and <a href=\"\/masking-tape\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">painter&#8217;s tape,<\/a> which will protect the finish.<\/p>\n<h4>Step 2: Degrease driveway surface<\/h4>\n<p>Next, degrease the concrete surface. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.farmandfleet.com\/s\/?keyword=degreaser\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">degreaser<\/a> helps break up any stubborn stains on your driveway. Some pressure washers include an attachment tool that you can use to degrease, but if not, you&#8217;ll need to scrub the concrete with a push broom or a stiff brush.<\/p>\n<h4>Step 3: Prepare pressure washer<\/h4>\n<p>Once you&#8217;ve used degreaser on your driveway, prepare your pressure washer with detergent and the right tip for washing&#8211;you can always consult your owner&#8217;s manual if you&#8217;re unsure. After you have the right tip, attach the spray wand to the pressure washer with a pressure hose. The water supply will come from your garden hose. Each model of pressure washer is different, so always follow the instructions in the manual.<\/p>\n<h4>Step 4: Clean concrete with detergent<\/h4>\n<p>After your pressure washer is loaded with <a href=\"\/pressure-washer-cleaning\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">detergent<\/a>, put on your safety gear. Wear safety <a href=\"\/disposable-gloves\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">rubber gloves<\/a>, <a href=\"\/safety-goggles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">eye protection<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.farmandfleet.com\/s\/?keyword=rubber+boots\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">rubber boots<\/a> to protect yourself from any debris and detergent. Start at the highest end so the water flows down the driveway. Point the sprayer wand&#8211;at a low setting&#8211;at the concrete surface and sweep back and forth with the detergent. Be sure to overlap each stroke of detergent by 5 &#8211; 8 inches. Once the driveway is covered, let the detergent sit for 10 &#8211; 25 minutes, without letting the detergent dry up.<\/p>\n<h4>Step 5: Rinse concrete<\/h4>\n<p>Now it&#8217;s time to rinse off the detergent. Switch to a high-pressure wand tip and use the rinse mode setting on your washer and repeat the same pattern that you used to apply the detergent. This will wash away the detergent and any stains on your driveway. With heavier stains, slowly overlap the sweeps closer together, which will put more pressure on the stains.<\/p>\n<h4>Step 6: Seal concrete<\/h4>\n<p>Once your driveway is dried off, seal the driveway to deter any future stains. Apply <a href=\"\/concrete-sealers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">concrete sealer<\/a> with an extended <a href=\"\/paint-rollers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">paint roller<\/a> and\u00a0follow any directions on the sealer. Once you&#8217;ve applied the sealer, wait 24 hours to use the driveway.
