Are the attachments heat resistant and can be used with warm ash?
A shopper on Feb 9, 2014
Best Answer: The body of the vac, tube, and main wand are all metal. Internally, the filter is a thick material which resists heat/ash. This is intended to be used with warm ashes direct from a stove. I've been using it for a year on a pellet stove which was recently firing with no issues.

we just purchased a pellet stove, it is our understanding along with the attachments you show on your product we also will need a long (straw like) hose to clean the firing mechanisms when we do our yearly cleaning. If so, do these come with the attachments? at this time of year are you having any type of "free" shipping or promotions going on? thank you I would certainly appreciate it. look forward to your response.
Pam M on Nov 9, 2014
Best Answer: Thank you for your interest in our products. I do not see that attachment in the kit.

Does it have replaceable or washable filter??
A shopper on Oct 24, 2013
Best Answer: The filter is removable. I can't speak to the availability of a replacement filter, though. The filter itself is made of a thick material that is more like a vinyl rather than paper, so--again--I'm assuming it's hand washable.

That said, I've been using the vacuum for a year on a pellet and wood stove. It has been reliable and effective. No dust escapes, and cleanup has been easy. Suction feels slightly weaker than expected, but I attribute that to the heavy filtration required.

Can the vacuum be used to pick up drywall dust?
A shopper on Jan 25, 2015
Best Answer: I have only used mine for ash. However both ash and Gypsum the material used in drywall are about the same in terms of abrasive properties. Gypsum being so fine might require a tad bit more cleaning of the vacuum. Great vacuum, certainly worth a try.

Best Answer: If I were you, I would return it for another. All I can say is, we have the same model & that has never happened to us. Maybe yours is defective. We really like our vac & haven't had any issues. We have owned ours for a year (2 wood stove seasons).

How long is the hose that comes with the vacuum when you purchase it?
A shopper on Jan 6, 2014
Best Answer: I bought it in September 2013, the hose in about 49 inches front end to where it hooks into the green can base. There are also attachments that will extend length of hose depending on which attachment

How is the suction on this vac??? also will this suck up unburnt coal pieces ( klinkers ).....
rob m on Nov 13, 2015
Best Answer: The suction is excellent and will suck anything that fits through the hose without jamming it. The filter works well with no dust in the room. Now regarding "klinkers" I am 74 and klinkers to me are the hard mass left behind in a coal burning stoker fed furnace. My father had to use a long handled forceps to remove them from the furnace, they were red hot and quite large. The ash vac wouldn't work for those klinkers. Didn't no anyone much younger than me would know what a klinker was.

I have had this vacuum for about 3 years and loved. it. All of a sudden the other day when I went to clean out my pellet stove instead of the ashes blowing into the vacuum they came out of the air blow out nozzle and had ashes all over my living room. It was a mess to clean up. Does anyone know why this happened?
A shopper on Jan 9, 2015
Best Answer: The filter wasn't seated properly or your filter has a hole in it. Either will cause ash to enter the vacuum motor housing and exit through the exhaust port. I had a torn filter and had to take the motor housing apart and clean as best I could. It's not too difficult to do, but requires a little patience and attention to detail. I recommend getting a new filter and cleaning the housing as best you can. Mine works like a charm after the new filter and cleaning.

Does the vacuum come with all the attachments? Should I also purchase the replacement filter?
Kathleen on Mar 17, 2014
Best Answer: I've had mine for a couple of years and still have not replaced the filter. It's pretty easy to knock the ashes off of the filter when you empty it although be sure to do that outside and upwind of the filter. The vacuum comes with all the attachments you need.

My hose connector snapped in half. Does anyone know where I can get another one? They screw on and off, so someone must have replacements.
A shopper on Jun 13, 2015
Best Answer: I just called powersmith directly at there 800 number. First they were out of stock on the 3ft hoses. They sent me a longer length. Didn't work, no suction. Called again, they eventually sent the 3 ft hose NC, under warranty.

I need to replace the hose to my ash vac. How do I get one?
A shopper on Sep 27, 2015
Best Answer: I called power-smith direct. It took awhile, but it was under warranty and they sent me a new one. Do not accept a longer length hose if they offer, suction is weak and it will not work
