A shopper asked: What is the thickness of the tube? We want to use it on a river that has some rocky areas - would it be appropriate for those conditions? Mar 25, 2014

TRACEY P: Hi
We purchased these and they were very very durable! i can't say firsthand whether it would be the right tube for rivers, but I can assume that it would be fine, as it has withstood two summers of MULTIPLE parties, abuse, lawn, woods - AND- we did not put them away in the upstate NY winter, and still they are in tact! i don't know how thick they are, but they are very durable. The only thing that was not ideal was the metal nob that is used to inflate it - it is inside the inner part of the tube. It has not bothered me, but it has bothered others.

Good Luck - it was indeed a great value!!
Have fun on the river-

Ed B: While I don't know what the measurement is, I can tell you its much thicker than the colorful tubes in this price range.

This tube is rubber not plastic. It is more like what was found in traditional tires, in fact to inflate it you use the same pump as you would a tire. We took ours to the local gas station and inflated them there. I would say it would hold up fine for use in shallow rocky water.

One thing to note is that the center opening is much larger than the picture here makes it look, so you may need to re-adjust yourself to get over jagged rocks without damaging your "asset". lol

Mona W: We specifically bought and used the tubes for tubing on a river. They worked well as they are tough and didn't pop. Be aware that the size of the tube is smaller than the normal "tractor size" usually used for tubing. Mar 25, 2014
