FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Janesville, WI – (February 2, 2009) – Eillien’s Candies, Inc., manufacturer of Blain’s Farm & Fleet private label products, is conducting a voluntary recall of the products listed below. The voluntary recall is being conducted as a precautionary measure due to the fact that the products involved contain peanuts, which are subject to the expanded recall of the products produced by Peanut Corporation of America’s (PCA) Blakely, Georgia facility. This PCA facility is the subject of an investigation by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) concerning a recent salmonella outbreak.

While Blain’s Farm & Fleet has no indication of any product quality or safety issues specifically related to our private label products, we are taking this proactive step out of an abundance of caution in response to the PCA recall.

Consumers who have the indicated Blain’s Farm & Fleet products should discontinue use immediately. This recall only affects the products listed below.

As a measure of caution, the products listed above should not be consumed, but rather returned to the store for a refund or exchange.

Blain’s Farm & Fleet regrets any inconvenience and apologizes for any concern caused by this product withdrawal. We will continue to take any and all actions necessary to ensure the quality and safety of our products so that you may have confidence in the products you purchase at our stores.

Products manufactured after 1/31/09 are not affected by this recall. It is important to note that only these 12 items listed, with the specific sell by dates, are impacted by this recall and have been removed from the shelves so that our customers can continue to enjoy a safe and delicious shopping experience at Blain’s Farm & Fleet. According to the Grocery Manufacturers Association:

• Many products that contain peanuts, peanut butter or peanut products are not affected by this recall, and are safe to consume, as manufacturers of those products do not buy ingredients from PCA.
• PCA manufactures just 1% of peanut products sold in the United States.
